This book is full of 75 years of wonderful photos and entertaining stories about the characters who, over three-quarters of a century, have made Muritai such a special yacht club. It is compiled from the collective contributions of many past and present members - exceptional value for a quality, colour, 80 page hardcover production.
Friday 15th,Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th March 2013.
The Muritai Yacht Club is planning its 75th Jubilee; a milestone well worth celebrating. The Club has come a long way from two sheds in the sand hills south of Eastbourne in the late 1930’s to the magnificent club house and facilities we have today. It is a tribute to the spirit of the “Muritai Yachties” and administrators past and present and we consider 75 years of yachting in the bay well worth celebrating.
Proposed Programme (as at 1 February)
Afternoon of 15 March 2013 from 3pm
We intend to have historic club photos and memorabilia in the clubhouse for locals (and visitors) to view and learn more about the MYC.
Friday 15th: Tall Tales Night from 7-30pm
Get-together for both the old and existing members at the Yacht Club. The bar will be open and finger food served from 8-30pm. Collect your Jubilee Cap and collect or purchase your copies of the Muritai 75 Jubilee Publication (see below). Entry $15.
Weather permitting, this will take the form of a mini Harbour Race, ‘Mark Foy’ (staggered) start off the beach north of Rona Bay Wharf; across to Ward Island for a ‘drink’; then to Days Bay for a treat; followed by a sail around the ol’ faithful launch Marlin to be anchored in York Bay; and finishing back at the Clubhouse. Boats “keelers and launches” will be available for all those interested to view the fun from the water.

This will be followed by the normal after sailing activities at the club as an entrée to more activities at Williams Park and Days Bay Beach and Wharf.
