Muritai Yacht Club is situated alongside Rona Bay wharf, off the end of the Eastbourne village main street. The club has been established 75 years and is renowned as a friendly, family orientated dinghy club with arguably the best sailing conditions to be found in Wellington on most days. Breezes are predominately nor’westerly or southerly. Nor’west breezes can produce some chop, whereas in southerly conditions the sea is generally flatter with a low swell.
The beach area for launching can vary from firm to soft sand and gravel, depending on recent wave action. Larger trolley wheels are best.
